After the dreary and cold first 2 months of the contract, we are now out of the ground and steel erection should commence in 2 weeks time. The contractor did encounter some obstructions of concrete boulders in ground and the subsequent rerouting of the below ground drainage. These were the unknown risks which we expected as our land used to be local council backfill site. As a consequent we are 2 weeks behind the programme.
The final contract sum outurn is still below our budget, however the building committee have decided to spend more to upgrade the remaining of car park, CCTV to our complex, electric blinds and have audio/video facilities with screens to make the extension more attractive to hirers.
Regarding fund raising, we have received £300,000 of pledges/donations so far of the £600,000 funds we were looking for. We have pledges for all the large donations, however there are still four Plaques still available at £5,000 each.
The continuing success of the Samaj will only be realised if we get the support from all the members of our community, so those who would still yet to give, please do so generously and quickly as time is running out.
