We are pleased to announce that we have awarded the building contract to Total Construction Ltd. The contract was signed on Thursday 3rd December 2009. The contract start date is 4th January 2010 and contract period is 32 weeks.
All the tenders were returned on 16th October 2009. After reviewing the tenders we interviewed 2 contractors and following intense negotiations and value engineering our recommendation of our preferred contractor was approved by KPS Ltd and the Executive Committee on 10th November 2009. Now the hard work starts.
With regards to fund raising to date we have received £240,000 of pledges/donations so far. This is disappointing when considering that more than half of this sum is from large donations. We need to raise about £600,000. We once again appeal to all those members who haven’t donated to send your cheques and gift aid forms to Maganbhai Bhimani as soon as possible. The continuing success of the Samaj will only be realised if we get the support from all the members of our community.
However the good news is that apart from four plaques we have now received all of the large donations. The Executive Committee has agreed to seek a sponsor for naming the overflow car park for a donation £15,000. This is across the road form main car park which will be extended as part of the Dining hall project. If anyone is interested in naming the car park, then they should contact either Manoj Ardeshna on 020 8204 0334 or Rajendrabhai Changela on 020 8958 9532 (In absence of Babubhai and Rajnibhai who are or will be in India during month of December). Any offers received are accepted on a ‘first come first served’ basis.
